Mini Hawaiian Store located inside the Yuma Indoor Market

Today's post is going to be about our little kiosk space in Yuma AZ. People that are familiar with Wave Shoppe Hawaiian Shirts knows that we are always working on ways to better serve web customers, as well as local residents.

Our kiosk is a mini Hawaiian store located inside the Yuma Indoor Market. Our store carries our most popular items such as mens Hawaiian shirts , Hawaiian muumuu dresses and quite a few essential accessories.

Its full a full service Hawaiian store that has racks full of shirts and we accept all major credit cards as well as the old standby, cash.

The kiosk is only open during the winter months, but we have been slowly attracting a following of locals. We hope to reach out even more as we get to know more people here and have opportunities to meet some of the local hula groups.

We just added tribal lava lava clothing in 3 colorways that should be popular with the locals that live here, especially so in this hot desert climate.

We are inside the air conditioned marketplace and located next to American Pride clothing store, whom offers really cool military themed t-shirts and accessories. The store is owned and operated by a lady named Brenda. Brenda is cool to be around and she even volunteers to watch our kiosk when we cant be around.

I would link to her website but she does not have one, I guess she is just a few months old and still in startup mode. But if your in the area stop by and check out her offerings.

Men Wear Red for Christmas

Like it of not, the Christmas holiday is just around the corner. People have already started their Christmas shopping (gasp), and before Halloween and Thanksgiving I must add. People are already dusting off that ugly Christmas sweater, as well as purchasing tropical Hawaiian shirts for the occasion, not to be misconstrued with purchasing Aloha for gifts.

At Wave Shoppe, what the guys are going to wear is pretty clear, they will be decked out in red Aloha shirts

First on everyone's list is a red Hawaiian shirt featuring cereus flowers, which bloom at night and usually only on select lava rock, is off to a good start.

Yes, people buy other prints, but sales numbers indicate that red is by far the predominant color for this time of the year.

Once the remaining sizes for the cereus flower shirt make their way out of sewing, the cereus flower shirt may eventually topple the current reining king of red Hawaiian shirts, (drum roll please) the red Hawaiian shirt with orchid flowers!

But if red is not your thing you can still find some alternative colors on our website that will also look good for the holidays.

If your doing a tiki themed Christmas or Thanksgiving, have a look at our newly added tropical accessories category, we offer some really cool looking, as well as useful household items.

So now you have the inside scoop on Hawaiian fashion in Hawaii and on the mainland. Keep an eye on the mens section, in January we have some exciting new products that we think you will like a lot.

Sunsetting Summer with Aloha

Its hard to believe that Summer is pretty much over in many parts of the country. But that's not the case in some states such as Arizona, California, Nevada, Florida, Texas, Hawaii etc. just to name a few. We are lucky to live in one of those states, I live its pretty much summertime weather year round, we can wear Hawaiian shirts whenever we want to. P.S. if you have not caught on yet, we like the Wave Shoppe brand.

Don't despair, there is good news. The good news is that we have these things called vacations, which are usually taken in warmer, more tropical locations, such as Hawaii or Fiji. Whether you fly or cruise or drive, somewhere on the planet there is a place to wear Hawaiian clothing.

While its on my mind... the guys still need to make sure they wear their shirts correctly, here is a article on how to wear a Hawaiian shirt, follow some of our suggestions and you will avoid having people wondering who dresses you.

As far as threads go for the ladies, you can wear whatever you like. If your going tropical you can elect to wear a dress or even a womens Hawaiian shirt, the choice is yours. So as we say Aloha to Summer we must do so with our heads held high, its always warm somewhere and Summer will return before you know it.

When is a Hawaiian Shirt not a Hawaiian Shirt?

You can purchase Hawaiian shirts for men and women from Wave Shoppe Hawaiian Shirts, Tommy Bahama, Reyn Spooner, Tori Richard, Kahala, Go Barefoot, Paradise Found etc. But when is a Hawaiian shirt not a Hawaiian shirt? Is it the design, the cut or the material that classifies it as a Hawaiian shirt? there are tons of shirts that have no Hawaiian or Polynesian designs on them at all. In example we have seen camp shirts with images of bears, hot air balloons, boats, airplanes, and even Hawaiian shirts with cars on the Internet and offline in many department and specialty stores.

Then we have the ugly (yet creative looking) Hawaiian shirt on the left. The shirt incorporates Hawaiian prints throughout yet looks like it was made by Dr. Frankenstein

Here is where you can purchase this ugly Hawaiian shirt which would indeed make a great gag gift for someone. I am thinking bachelor parties and birthdays for old Hawaiian shirt collectors that have everything. Your thoughts?

Like many people that work way too many hours, I don’t get out all that much, not to mention not taking many vacations. So this summer I am going back to Hawaii and hanging 10 at da beach for a while, maybe most of the summer.

My Hawaiian vacation will be all about flip-flops, Hawaiian shirts, pretty hula girls and food. If you have never traveled to the Hawaiian island I would suggest that you read our tips on what clothes to wear in Hawaii so you will at least be properly dressed for the momentous occasion. Oahu is my favorite island, but I may hop over to Maui for a bit, it all depends on water clarity and what’s for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Yes, food has a lot of influence on what I do and where I go. Pretty much any good recipe for Spam fried rice or garlic shrimp will catch my attention. Leave a comment and share your favorite island food or fashion statement with us. Mahalo

No the Hawaiian shirt is not made from mauna loa macadamia nuts

Pictured is a really cool Hawaiian shirt in an red color and an air brushed look.

While it has absolutely nothing to do with the Mauna Loa macadamia nuts that you eat, this beautiful shirt IS named after the famous volcano in Hawaiian called Mauna Loa.

Since the shirt is a lava red color the naming convention was only appropriate.

These Hawaiian shirts from Wave Shoppe are made for high quality cotton and are very affordable. Cut and sewn in the USA

Men in Their Hawaiian Aloha Shirts

Me and my wife cruise up and down the coast and check out those sporting around in their Hawaiian shirts on a regular basis.

We do this in part because we are always keeping an eye out for a design idea to add to our line of Hawaiian shirts for men which in part is challenging because we don’t make the standard designs that you see at the hundreds of other retailers selling Hawaiian apparel.

We figure that if you are man enough to wear a colorful Hawaiian aloha shirt then the gloves are off when it comes to boldness. Bring on the Aloha bruddah!

Featured today is a Hawaiian shirt with pineapples and what makes this shirt stand out (aside from eye popping color) is that the detail in the pineapple is incredible, it looks like you could almost eat it. We see a lot of Hawaiian shirts with designs that look nothing like the real flower or fruit so this one is refreshing to say the least.

We look everywhere, the boardwalks, on highway 101 the quaint shops that speckle the coastal shopping areas, the beaches, and even the roadside racks that carry a few name brands that are seemingly on sale every day of the year.

The island of Maui is bigger than a Hawaiian shirt

The island of Maui, or Maui  as the locals refer to it, is the second-largest of the Hawaiian Islands weighing in at a whopping at 727.2 square miles of paradise!

While Maui is not the largest of the Hawaiian islands it one of the more picturesque and boasts some of the finest snorkeling on the planet.

So how does a Hawaiian apparel manufacturer pay homage to such a beautiful island?

Thats easy, you commission a mens Hawaiian shirt that encapsulates all of the beauty of Maui, of which includes beautiful island flowers and foliage, and appropriately name it the Maui Hawaiian shirt!

Hawaiian aloha shirts and when a turtle is not blue

The name of a shirt does not necessarily mean things are as they first appear. When a Hawaiian shirt is named "blue sea turtle", it may very well mean that the Hawaiian shirt is blue and has sea turtles on it. And not that the turtles are blue (like in the image)

Why sea turtles? Many Hawaiian shirts for men often contain turtles an petroglyphs and other ancient symbols. While offered in two colors, todays featured shirt is blue, with turtles of course.
