Like it of not, the Christmas holiday is just around the corner. People have already started their Christmas shopping (gasp), and before Halloween and Thanksgiving I must add. People are already dusting off that ugly Christmas sweater, as well as purchasing tropical Hawaiian shirts for the occasion, not to be misconstrued with purchasing Aloha for gifts.
At Wave Shoppe, what the guys are going to wear is pretty clear, they will be decked out in red Aloha shirts
First on everyone's list is a red Hawaiian shirt featuring cereus flowers, which bloom at night and usually only on select lava rock, is off to a good start.
Yes, people buy other prints, but sales numbers indicate that red is by far the predominant color for this time of the year.
Once the remaining sizes for the cereus flower shirt make their way out of sewing, the cereus flower shirt may eventually topple the current reining king of red Hawaiian shirts, (drum roll please) the red Hawaiian shirt with orchid flowers!
But if red is not your thing you can still find some alternative colors on our website that will also look good for the holidays.
If your doing a tiki themed Christmas or Thanksgiving, have a look at our newly added tropical accessories category, we offer some really cool looking, as well as useful household items.
So now you have the inside scoop on Hawaiian fashion in Hawaii and on the mainland. Keep an eye on the mens section, in January we have some exciting new products that we think you will like a lot.

Clothing for a Christmas without Snow
Ho ho ho merry Christmas and all of that. I have to be honest and state that it's nearly impossible to get in the Christmas spirit when you live in a state where it does not snow, such as southern California. I grew up in the Midwest in northern IL where we had temps as low as 40 below zero and snow, lots of traffic crippling snow. SOCAL weather in the winter is usually somewhere between 65 and 80 degrees in the winter months and temps in the low 50s at night is the norm.
Nonetheless I do my best to surround myself with things that remind me of Christmas. The vast majority of those items consist of the usual suspects, cookies, lights, television shows with the likes of Frosty the snowman, Grinch, holiday themed clothing, etc.
Why just yesterday I pulled the Santa shirt (pictured) from the back of my closet and placed it in my regular rotation. Since I work in a office and never get dirty, I should be able to wear the surfing Santa Hawaiian shirt 2 or 3 times a week before Christmas day.
One big advantage I have over other people is that since we actually own and operate a brick and mortar Hawaiian shirt store as well as a ecommerce website that lets us sample trends Internationally. We can quickly spot seasonal trends in specific shirting designs and adapt as needed. There are some prints that sell much better in the winter than they do in the spring or summer.
Take for example a mens red Hawaiian shirt with hibiscus flowers, while the combination is popular year round, sales for this particular shirt nearly triple during the holidays. The red Hawaiian shirts with orchid flowers are also very popular for Christmas. Some people buy them for gifting, and some simply buy them so they have something new to wear in holiday colors. These shirts are almost the same color red as holly berries.
Sales for women's clothing ramp up as well, but the real stars during the Christmas season are not women's Hawaiian shirts, it's the Hawaiian muumuu dresses that get all of the sales action, especially items like this navy blue mid-calf Hawaiian muumuu dress which is almost impossible to keep in stock during peak sales weeks. If your living in a warm weather state and are suffering from the same symptoms, swing by our store or visit our website and treat yourself to something with a little Aloha.
